Tailoring

Rarer hide is its own gate: a recipe you can already sew still refuses the better leather until your Tailoring reaches its tier. Black Leather is skinned at 110 effective Camping, but sewn at raw Grandmaster Tailoring (100): that gate reads your own skill alone, so a Grandmaster tailor needs no gear to work it.

Five yard pieces found only by working this skill. Any work at the skill can turn one up — every swing or craft, success or failure, and the hours you put in while logged out as well. Each stands in your yard or your house, carries its own story on its tooltip, and trades like any other item.

Piece	Its story
Dressmaker's Form	A linen form wearing a gown that has been nearly finished for twenty years — pinned, tacked, and never hemmed. The dressmaker still promises it to a Nujel'm heiress who stopped asking a decade ago. Every so often a new pin appears in it overnight.
The Giant Spool	A spool the size of a cider barrel, wound with one unbroken thread of red silk that nobody has ever reached the end of. A Britain tailor has drawn thirty years of hems off it and it has not grown any thinner. She is beginning to find this less wonderful and more worrying.
Well-Dressed Scarecrow	A scarecrow in a tailored coat, a silk waistcoat and a feathered hat, put up by a tailor who refused to let anything badly dressed stand in her field. It has not frightened off a single crow. They come from miles around to look at the coat.
Nujel'm Silk Rack	Bolts of Nujel'm silk aired on a sandalwood rack: saffron, sea-blue, and the green of a sultan's garden. On that island silk is spent like coin, and this rack was once a dowry. The marriage did not last; the silk, being very good silk, has.
Line of Drying Bandages	Boiled, wrung and pegged out in the sun between two posts: a week's bandages from a Trinsic healer who went through them faster than any three tailors could stitch. Every strip on the line has been bled on and boiled a hundred times. Tailors call that thrift. The healer calls it Tuesday.
